Seeing Starz!

My friend Julie & I decided to crash the PDC conference again this year and enjoyed spending time in the sun exploring Beverly Hills, sitting poolside and of course, stalking celebrities. We hit the celeb-spotting jackpot at the Beverly Hilton where there were two major events being hosted during our short stay. Three if you count the Fox Business special being filmed live on location, but more on that to follow.

First, the Carousel of Hope fundraiser. I knew we missed something big when we returned to the hotel and saw a number of Bentleys parked out front. Denzel Washington, Jonas Brothers, Nicole Richie and many more were in attendance. I am sure you can imagine my disappointment when I found these photos of the event posted online. I was determined not to the same mistake twice. So two days later we headed down to the lobby early with camera in hand to check out the arrivals for the Hollywood Film Festival & Hollywood Awards. This time we were NOT disappointed. Seen walking the red carpet; Clint Eastwood, Dustin Hoffman, Marisa Tomei, Maria Bello, James Franco, Kristin Scott Thomas, Ryan Gosling, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ben Stiller and more. However, I did learn that taking photos from behind the barrier proved to be more difficult than I had anticipated. I will definitely have to look into taking some sort of paparazzi photography lessons before the next conference.

I missed an even better chance to get up close to Ryan Gosling (seen here with someone who is not Rachel McAdams) while I was busy putting the hunt down on James Franco.

Basking in the afterglow of our first red carpet event. Like a good little girl, Roxanna slept through the whole thing.

My own personal trip highlight, taking our time to pose for many photos in front of this well lit Fox Business sign. It took awhile before I noticed a camera man across the way waving frantically for us to get out of his shot. Live tv, gotta love it! The news is so depressing these days anyways, I’m sure the viewers enjoyed the extra entertainment value we provided.

And finally on a side note: Travel tip for anyone going to be in the LA area, the cupcakes at Sprinkles on Little Santa Monica Blvd are well worth the long line up. Oh how we love us some cupcakes! Please take the time to vote “Seattle” for the next Sprinkles Location – CLICK HERE!

The Magic of Disney

The magic of Disney lies in the marketing. I don’t know what they do, but it sure is effective. In preparation for Roxanna’s first trip to Disneyland she watched a mere 30 minute cartoon segment of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and that’s all it took, she was hooked and ready to set off on a Mickey Mouse adventure to call her own.

After a close encounter with Pluto, Roxanna wasn’t so sure what to make of her meeting with Mickey.

As for Minnie Mouse, she’s just great!

The Ghost of Halloween Past

With Halloween just around the corner, we started “trick or treat” training today. In preparation for the big day, we got out last year’s costume for educational purposes. Seems Roxanna’s just getting the joke now and enjoyed an afternoon of dressing up like Simon and chasing him around the house. IMG_3121IMG_3118

Roxanna, dressed as the domestic cat, likes to distinguish herself from the other felines by washing dishes and playing nicely with the toy kitchen.
